Black Coffee
Mr.Tantiga is… eccentric. Very eccentric. So insanely eccentric that no sane person can stand his company for more than ten minutes without running from the general area, wide eyed, and screaming ‘By the love of all things good and sane, no more Chef Republic fifth-dynasty monkey slugs!’ Due to the fact that he has this effect on people, Mr.Tantiga has retired with his crazy amount of money to Blahs Islands- an uncharted little place that sits in the middle of the ocean, not really bothering anyone, and generally looking serene. The afore-mentioned billionaire, when he first saw this, decided to change it. He turned what was once an elevated, poorly-soiled, bowl-shaped, mostly-barren island into an elevated, wonderfully-soiled, bowl-shaped, thriving island. The exact means it took to do this are as yet unknown, but it is suspected that the very mention of the amount of money involved in this conversion would send any sane person running, screaming at the top of their lungs.
However he did it, Mr.Tantiga is not yet fully satisfied with the work he has done- sure, he’s managed to mix plants from around the globe and make them thrive side-by-side, transported tons of soil from around the globe, and built a house that costs about as much as the whole of Hollywood, but there was something blatantly missing from it all- animals. Being eccentric and all, Mr.Tantiga had completely forgotten about other creatures, despite the fact that he had basically animal-proofed his home, with the inner sanctum (bathroom and bedroom) completely guarded. That was twenty years ago- since, he’s brought in animals from all around the world, careful to always remember to look out his window and make sure there’s something for that particular species to eat. It never occurred to him that he could just import animals and plants from just one place, making his life easier.
After all, where’s the fun in that?
Why is the RP called Black Coffee? Beats me if I know.
What can you RP? Any living animal- from ant to elephant.
Fallen Town
Deep in the middle of a nowhere dimension, there sits a happy little planet populated by horrific beings, best described as a spinning ball of B movie horror. Mostly, the planet is covered in swirling, rather pretty mulit-colored something-active fog that eats anything that walks into it (and thus is generally avoided) but there is a point of life in this cheerfully deadly place- a plot of land, to the north of the equator, where humanity has randomly set up a little settlement, with a downtown and buildings and other such stuff. They call their town 'Fallen'- although no one really knows why- and a lot of people there aren't overly happy about where they are. Generally, that feeling is mutual. But I get ahead of myself.
The community is quite odd- it doesn't grow its own food, except for the few who fancy growing things, as white vans with dark-tinted windows drive out of the mists on occasion to deliver food to the sprawling lengths of the grocery store in the center of town. No one knows who drives the vans, or where the food comes from- all anyone knows is that they've been depending on the food since their great-great-great-great-grandparents could remember, and no one argues with free food. Sometimes, people just appear- not necessarily from the mist- look confused, and wonder around asking questions that everyone knows the answer to before they settle down. Houses occasionally appear to, although they usually don't ask questions (although there are stories told to the contrary of this).
Beside the 'downtown', with the clumps of shops surrounding it, and the houses beyond the shops in the hills, there is only one more building- the school. Huge, sprawling, it sits like a fatly complacent spider within its valley, its body made up of all types of architecture, some of it known to other places, some of it purely unique to itself. It is here that anyone can come to learn, although the point of it is sometimes lost upon the depressed. The main focus of Fallen's power, it seems, the school is the kind of place where one looks straight ahead, walks quickly, and ignores any strange noises.
Generally, the inhabitants don't tread beyond the roads (which sometimes shrink and sometimes grow) and avoid looking each other straight in the eye. They don't venture into the hills, or the places beyond the hills, because they're too afraid of what might dwell there. The only people asking questions are those who've just arrived, or those powerful enough to take the answers. The new turn old, and the powerful eventually leave, or, if they're unlucky, have to stay, and in the end, even they stop asking. Conversations are common enough, where people bemoan what people have grumbled over since civilization first arose, and friendship is in no way uncommon- people just don’t usually ask personal questions. In Fallen, no one is judged, and no one judges, and everyone knows that there's something lurking everywhere- the evil, the arcane, the dark, and the horribly, horrendously good.
