Is there some sort of plot? If so, what is it? - well here goes The history of the heartland is am intriguing one! Most is based on legend, and stories passed down from generation to generation.
When the earth was young, and horses (along with other animals) ruled the universe, the heartland was a rough undiscovered (and possibly unliveable) land. The horses were banished from many other countries for ruining their lands with their hooves and grazing the small amount of grass to stubble.
No one knows quite how the managed to get across the open ocean to reach the country of the heartland, but what we do know is the land was already inhabited.
The creatures already living peacefully on the land were the houseplants. When the horses arrived to the land, they soon fell in love with it. The houseplants found they were powerless against the powerful horses, and grew crippled and bitter, growing to hate the horses. This bitterness soon started the horseshoe rebellion.

The Horseshoe rebellion is the closest thing to a war this peacefull land of the heartland has gotten too. It began when the houseplant boy "Roburtes" invaded the horses land. Crossing the invisiable border cutting through Mount Appaloosa. He managed to capture one small filly from the ancient herd of the Cimmeron (now run by Swift) The lead stallion at that time chased the houseplant back to his land, only to find it was too late. The poor young horse had been slaughtered.
The Cimmerons were outraged and crossed the boarder onto the houseplant's land. The battle between the horses and the angered spirits lasted 2 weeks. Its estimated 78 houseplants and 4 horses died during this battle.
The houseplants serendered in desperation and the horses returned.
600 years later, the heartfolk arrived. The heartfolk were the first form of the human beings inhabiting the heartland today.
Basically, the humans and horses managed to live together peacefully, and ever since then, we have looked after these beautiful animals.
