Are auditions of some sort required? - No except your character profile needs to be approved.
Plot - The DR which is the Defenders of the Republic and the NGA, the New Galactic Alliance were at war over Coruscant and with some help from the jedi the DR held Coruscant in there grasps. But for some reason two jedi were trapped upon a new enemies fleet that entered the battle. The leader of the fleet is Du'uriz Ligtbane an evil sith lord. Now Du'uriz and Kooth Odok another sith have formed a small treaty to where the NGA as joined with Du'uriz's fleet and is now after the DR and especially the jedi. For the jedi they now are still training padawans and discussing the matters in several meetings.

Are beings other than humans allowed? If so, what type? - Most star wars species are allowed.
Is magic allowed? - For jedi and sith the force is magic I think.
Other - You can join either the NGA, with Du'uriz or the DR. But you do not have to join them you can be a bounty hunter that flee's the galaxy on there own missions but whatever you do try to act like you are needed in the plot!
